People in architectural circles talk frequently about modern lighting, but what exactly is modern lighting? Does it mean using something other than fire or gas to light up your home environment? Or perhaps it means using high tech light bulbs in an office environment? One thing is for sure and that is that modern lighting means a lot of things. Generally modern lighting refers to any style of lighting that and also the light source that is being used.

Style component

Lighting styles have come a very long way from what they were 100 years ago. Even in the 1960’s and 70’s they’ve changed the way they look entirely almost. Lighting styles change for various reasons. First is function then comes style. Right now, modern lighting style might include interior lighting that uses recessed halogens and polymers for chandeliers, rather than old fashioned wrought iron chandeliers.

Newer lighting styles are also typically lighter and cleaner looking than their older counterparts and many of the fixtures are now clear and designed  with more clear cut styles in mind. The modern home is simple and basic, with clear lines and modern lighting is being created to fit and mesh better in this look.

Keeping up wit environmental elements

Another huge reason that lights have changed so much over the years is simply because of technological and environmental changes and innovations that come around every couple years. Modern lighting has changed greatly in accordance to how humans perceive environmental impacts. For example, we’ve transitioned from burning wood and gas to now making all our lighting needs from electricity, all thanks to technological advancements. This was a great move for the environment also.

Now we’re all starting to use energy saving light bulbs.
